I'm an experienced floor based yogi, where should I start?
Aerial Yoga is a fusion technique combining traditional yoga poses, pilates, dance and aerial arts. Your solid floor based practice and experience with inversions will support you in your aerial practice, while you discover new ways of moving in the air!
*We highly recommend attending a beginner workshop, Open Class or Aerial Yoga foundation course for all new aerial yogis regardless of number of years of floor based yoga practice. Unless you have prior experience using Aerial Arts apparatus such as: Aerial Silks, Trapeze or Lyra. Feel free to reach out to us to discuss your best option for class or course level.
A few things to know before your first class:
location: sky-lab is located five minutes walk from Central station at 342 Elizabeth st Surry Hills. Look for a black metal gate next to an Indian takeaway. Buzz 405# on the keypad to gain entry. Take the elevator or stairs up to level 4, exit right, follow the pathway left around the graffiti rooftop and look for the hanging garden. Our studio door is opposite.
The studio is open fifteen minutes before your scheduled class.
Arriving late to class: Arriving more than 5 minutes late to your scheduled class will forfeit your session. we value your safety and experience in class and individually rig your hammock at the start of each session to your specific height request. Please ensure you arrive with plenty of time to pick your hammock and rig in with your class!
wear : stretchy clothing that you feel comfortable moving in and won’t ride up when you’re upside down and ensure your clothing has been pre-washed or is colourfast.
bling: all jewellery needs to be removed before every class for your comfort in the air and to prevent snagging the Harrison hammocks.
makeup: Please remove all heavy makeup and all lipstick at the studio prior to your class - baby wipes can be located in the studio near the water fountain. Also please ensure any freshly painted nails are completely dry before attending your booked session.
H2O: bring plenty of water to stay hydrated during class.
food: it’s best to finish your meal at least one hour prior to class.
parking: metered parking is available on Randal st and Cooper st, close to the studio. Unmetered parking can be found south of Devonshire st.
bookings: are essential and can be made via our MindyBody site or via our MindBody Connect App. 12 hours notice of cancellation is required to be eligible for a makeup session of change of class. All sessions are non refundable.
class packs: are valid for 6 months from date of purchase, 6 hours notice of cancellation is required, class passes are non refundable and non transferable.
ten week courses: Are held four times a year in terms 1 - 5. Courses run consecutively from from the start date for ten weeks. One session per week on your scheduled day. 12 hours notice of cancellation is required to be eligible for a makeup session. Makeup sessions are available to take any time within your ten week course duration in your level course or any level below. All courses are non refundable and non transferable.
